Sinthia Hoque:-This weekend, Toronto is partnering up with city hospitals and community health-care partners to administrate COVID-19 vaccine doses at 15 clinics to high-priority people with confirmed appointments.
High-priority groups include those aged 80 and above, high-priority health-care providers, Indigenous adults, adults who receive chronic home care, and as well staff, residents and caregivers at senior congregate settings.
Toronto administrated 270, 625 COVID-19 doses by Saturday evening.
Some of the locations which administrated the COVID-19 vaccine doses this Saturday were Unity Health Toronto, Unity Health Network, Michael Garron Hospital and The Humber River Hospital.
University Health Toronto held two clinics on Saturday to vaccinate about 1,000 people, which included those aged and 80 and above, those living in congregate settings, Indigenous adults, and hospitals and community-based health-care workers. In addition to Saturday, two clinics were held Friday as well for these groups.
University Health Network held a mobile clinic on Saturday to vaccinate hospital workers. In addition to this and between three clinics and a mobile clinic on Friday, they vaccinated about 1, 100 hospital health-care workers and patients and community members aged 80 and above. They also vaccinated long-term-care staff and residents, those aged 65 and above who live in shelters and in congregate settings.
Michael Garron Hospital held a clinic on Saturday and deployed teams to a primary care setting in order to vaccinate about 837 people. The priority group which was the same as that of Friday included, health-care workers, paramedics and first responders from Toronto Fire Services, community members aged 80 and above, those living in shelters and in congregate settings. Another clinic will be held on Sunday.
The Humber River Hospital held a clinic on Friday in a congregate setting and vaccinated 514 people which included, health-care workers, long-term care staff and caregivers and those aged 80 and above. It also administrated 84 vaccines to people. On Saturday, they were scheduled to have 748 people vaccinated and they also plan to hold a clinic on Sunday to vaccinate 646 people.
