Tiasha Tabassum: Ontario is indicating optimism after reporting fewer than 300 new cases of COVID-19 for the last few days in a row. It gives hope that the deadly virus can be controlled by taking proper measures. Also, it insinuates that the transmission rate of the disease has been dropped recently.
There are about 31,000 positive cases of COVID-19 that were reported in Ontario. Now it is believed there are only around 6000 active cases. Therefore, the number of recoveries is crossing the number of new cases for a few days. This has sparked hope in people.
Although it has been only a few days to get lower than 300 new cases we can hope that this will continue. Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliot defined the situation as ‘very promising’. On her Twitter, she wrote, “Today’s day over day increase has fallen to 0.7%, down from 0.8% yesterday. Extensive efforts by the province and local public health units to contain the spread are working.”
To this date, there have been no deaths recorded among people of 19 years to younger. The province has tested more than 880,398 tests till now. The labs are hoping that this quick fall will of positive cases will continue.
