Online scam requires $7K in gift cards from Zachery Lefave’s missing NS man’s family.
The text message told the family in disjointed English that their loved one was still alive and would be released and not killed if the family were to send $7,000.
Police think that the fraudster most likely got the phone number of the family as personal phone numbers were posted on social media to help locate the missing 21-year-old. Police determined that the text appeared to come from different locations in both North America and Africa.
