The Ontario government has announced that the stay-at-home orders in place will be lifted for Toronto and Peel region, as they move into the grey lockdown zone under the province’s COVID-19 response framework of restrictions.
As confirmed by the government on Friday, the change in these restrictions will come into effect as of March 8th at 12:01 a.m.
“Toronto Public Health and Peel Public health are also making progress, but as their case rates still remain high, they will return to the framework at the grey lockdown level”, the Ontario government said in a news release on Friday.
The move came only days after top doctor’s of both regions suggested to return to the grey lockdown zone.
“Despite this positive step forward, a return to the framework is not a return to normal”, said Christina Elliot, the province’s Health Minister.
Both the regions will stay in the grey lockdown zone for at least two weeks and will be continuously reassessed.
