An off-duty Ontario officer is charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation by the Toronto Police Sex Crimes-Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.
The charges were laid on Friday following an independent investigation by the Toronto Police service.
According to a police statement on Friday, the charges laid are not related to any on-duty activities.
Though he cannot be named at the moment, in order to protect the victim’s identity, the officer in question is a detective and had been employed with York Regional Police since 2004.
According to the force, he will be suspended until the court process is over.
