Sinthia Hoque:-Officer taken to the hospital Saturday morning after his cruiser was “intentionally hit” in Scarborough, police say.
According to the police, the incident occurred just before 8 a.m. when the officer was stopped in the area of Gander Drive and Ellesmere Road, just east of Markham Road.
Toronto Police Chief James Rammer tweeted, “His cruiser was rammed intentionally from behind”.
“The driver did this twice before getting out of his car, armed with a knife. The officer attempted to deescalate but the man refused to drop the knife”.
According to Rammer, other officer did respond and worked to “safely resolve the situation and make the arrest”.
As a precaution, police say the officer and the man who was tasered by police were both taken to a hospital.
Though further information regarding the incident wasn’t immediately available, road closures in the area were put in place earlier but have since been lifted.
