Sinthia Hoque:-Initially when the quarantine hotels first began on February 22nd, only 22 hotels were listed on the federal government’s website, increasing to 37 hotels later on in February.
Now with the federal government expanding the list for international travellers, there are currently 57 approved quarantine hotels. Feds ask international travellers to change their plans if a hotel isn’t available.
According to the mandatory Quarantine hotel regulations which have been out in place since February 22nd, international travellers flying into Canada by law are required to get tested for COVID-19 upon landing and quarantine in a hotel at their own expense. The hotel expenses can take up to three days and cost $2,000. Each day of non compliance of these regulations can cost up to $3,000.
As the list of approved airports travellers has not changed, travellers are still limited to landing in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary or Montreal.
