Ismaila Alfa is the host of CBC Radio One’s “Metro Morning.” He arrived from Winnipeg on Aug. 16 and became the full-time host of the city’s top-rated morning show eight days later. Alfa, 45, credits his coworkers with assisting him in learning more about his new home. “Being that voice while still discovering the city is really interesting and fun,” he says of his role as host of Radio One’s top morning show, ” Metro Morning.”
On October 2, at 10 a.m. ET, on CBC’s “This, is Life with Lisa Ling” on Radio One, Sundays at 10:30 a.M., the full interview with Ismaila AFA will air. Alfa moved from Nigeria to Manitoba when he was six years old and now hosts “Metro Morning” in the GTA. He expresses his awe at the city’s great diversity of Black communities. The purpose of the show is to keep the public informed about new bakeries, pastries, and current events.
Alfa is also well-suited to “cutting through the garbage,” as he puts it, in order to assist his audience in making sense of the deluge of information about vaccines, variants, lockdowns, and community transmission. “I’m looking forward to being a part of that conversation and ensuring that we bring stories to air that not only discuss the struggles and challenges that Black people face, but also celebrate the victories and diversity of Black culture,” says the host, who grew up in the GTA.
