The independent review panel’s preliminary report has been published by the Minister of Health. The panelists were selected based on their backgrounds in public health, politics, health security, and intelligence. The research provides an overview of the GPHIN’s structure and functions, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic’s discovery.
The final report, due in May 2021, will include recommendations and guidance on how to keep Canada well-prepared to detect and respond to potential public health emergencies. “Our government initiated this independent review to identify what changes are required to keep Canada well positioned,” says Minister of Health.
