Officials in Toronto say a new TTC bus garage in the city’s north end will improve bus service in Scarborough. On Saturday, Toronto Mayor John Tory and other city officials announced that the new garage, which will be located at Kennedy Road and McNicoll Avenue, will open on March 28.
On Saturday, Mayor Tory said, “The opening of the McNicoll Garage is good news for our entire city and, in particular, the residents of Scarborough.” According to the city, the new garage can accommodate up to 250 vehicles at a time. It’s Toronto’s first new TTC garage since 2008.
The garage, according to officials, was built to Toronto’s environmentally friendly standards and features one of the country’s largest green roofs as well as solar panels. The new 29,000-square-metre facility will house 600 transportation employees and 100 maintenance officers, as well as a bus cleaning station.
