The federal government has committed $884,018 to help Francophone organizations in Northern Ontario create jobs and expand their economic opportunities. COVID-19 has a particularly negative impact on Francophone communities, such as tourism, forestry, and small business.
The federal government will continue to assist Francophone businesses and organizations in their efforts to create jobs, grow their businesses, and take advantage of opportunities made possible by linguistic duality. The North Multiplier Effect Program will award up to $25,000 to up to 25 non-profit Francophone organizations to help them expand their business, social, and economic opportunities.
This high-priority project is expected to create 25 jobs and keep another 15 in the region once completed. The announcement reaffirms the federal government’s commitment to assisting official language minority communities (OLMCs) in overcoming COVID 19’s effects.
