Today is the first day of the trial for a teen accused of sexually assaulting two students at an all-boys Catholic school in Toronto. The incidents occurred in October and November 2018 at St. Michael’s College School.
The teen has pleaded not guilty to gang sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, and assault with a weapon on two counts each. They are connected to two separate incidents in which students were sexually assaulted with a broom handle.
Several students have testified in court that the teen was involved in a sexual assault on October 18 and November 7, 2018. The incident happened in the football team’s locker room in November, and it was caught on camera and shared on social media. Due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, no young person can be identified.
