According to police, a stabbing in an Oakville park that left a man in his 60s with life-threatening injuries appears to have been random.
At around 7 p.m., Halton police were called to Clearview Park near Wynten Way. On Tuesday night, officers responded to a report of a man acting suspiciously and approaching random people in the park.
During their search of the park, police received word that a man in his 60s had been stabbed.
According to Halton paramedics, the man was discovered and taken to hospital in a critical condition
Following the stabbing, there was a heavy police presence in the park, though police stated that there was “no threat to public safety.”
According to police, a 34-year-old Mississauga man was located and arrested on Wednesday morning, and charges are now pending.
Police also said there appears to be no connection between the two men.
Police say, “there is no known relationship between the suspect and victim, and based on the investigation, the incident appears to be random and unprovoked.”
