Rogers Communications Inc. is giving customers a credit after a massive nationwide wireless outage on Monday that left millions without voice, texting, or data service for several hours.
As per the company, a credit equal to Monday’s wireless service fee will be applied to a future bill.
Rogers mentioned that the credit will be applied automatically, and customers will not be required to take any action.
The telecom giant claims that a recent software update by its network partner Ericsson was the root cause of the intermittent wireless service.
Rogers says it is conducting an in-depth review in collaboration with Ericsson to prevent similar problems from occurring in the future.
Many users expressed dissatisfaction with the outage, citing the fact that they work from home due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, and experts say the nearly day-long outage had significant economic ramifications.
