On Friday, Canada surpassed a new milestone in its COVID-19 vaccination campaign, administering over 400,000 doses in a single day. As per CTV News.ca’s vaccine tracker, Canada administered a total of 400,489 doses of combined first and second doses on Friday.
According to government figures, 375,636 of the 400,489 doses were first doses, with the remaining 24,853 being second doses.
More than 14 million people have received at least one dose, accounting for roughly 37% of all Canadians. As of Friday afternoon, 14,104,164 Canadians had received at least one dose of the vaccine.
April 23rd was the last time Canada set a daily total dose record with 362,525 vaccines administered.
The influx of incoming vaccines into the country this week prompted some provinces to expand vaccine eligibility.
Alberta has made vaccination appointments available to all adults over the age of 18. More than 142,000 appointments had been made by the end of Friday.
Peel Region in Ontario allowed all adults 18 and up to begin booking appointments on Thursday.
