Shomporko Correspondent: Under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, the province will extend several COVID-19 directives until June 16.
The directives, which include banning recreational camping on public lands, prohibiting non-essential interprovincial travel, transferring hospital patients, redeploying health care workers, and enforcing COVID-19 procedures, were supposed to expire on June 2nd.
The announcement comes after Premier Doug Ford announced a three-step reopening plan on May 20. Step one is expected to begin June 14 under the condition that 60 per cent of Ontario adults have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and that outdoor activities including dining will be restricted to smaller groups. Then step two is 70 per cent of adults vaccinated with one dose and 20 per cent vaccinated with two doses. Finally, step three is 70 to 80 per cent of adults vaccinated with one dose and 25 per cent vaccinated with two doses.
