The search for a 24-year-old man who went missing in Richmond Hill two years ago has come to a conclusion, according to York Regional Police.
Simi Abrams vanished on March 21, 2019, after leaving Mackenzie Health facility on foot.
Later, the young man was seen shopping at a Walmart on Major Mackenzie Drive in Maple, indicating that he intended to hold a BBQ in the woods.
His movements were traced to the area of Keele Street and Teston Road, where he was last spotted walking west about an hour later at around 3:30 p.m.
His cell phone and wallet were found later that day near Teston Road and Bathurst Street.
At the time, police said Abrams had never gone missing before and the behaviour was uncharacteristic for him.
Teams of volunteers searched for Abrams and his family made an emotional appeal for him to return home.
In May, police claimed they discovered bone parts in connection with an inquiry north of Keele Street and Kirby Road, about two kilometers from where Abrams was last seen.
“The Chief Coroner’s Office was notified, and testing was conducted to determine the deceased’s identification.” Simi Abrams has been identified as the deceased, according to a news release issued by York Regional Police on Thursday. “His death is not being investigated as suspicious.”
The matter has already been concluded, according to police. They also stated that the occurrence poses no threat to the public’s safety.
