Today, Premier Doug Ford and Minister of Health Christine Elliott will unveil long-awaited plans for the rebuilding of Trillium Health Partners’ Mississauga Hospital.
As part of the announcement, they will discuss the expansion of two hospital locations, one in Mississauga and the other in Etobicoke.
The Mississauga Hospital at 100 Queensway West will be completely rebuilt, as stated in the Fall Economic Statement last month, while a second facility in Etobicoke will get a new patient tower.
According to government officials, the expansion of a present facility in Mississauga will make it the largest hospital in the country.
Trillium Health Partners currently operates two hospitals in Mississauga – Credit Valley Hospital and Mississauga Hospital.
The two sites currently operate more than 1,000 beds combined.
Ford and Elliott are expected to speak at 10 a.m.
CP24 will broadcast the announcement live on air and online.
The auditor general will also be releasing audits of several provincial files at the same time.
