The suspicious death of a 22-year-old woman in Newmarket is being investigated by the York Regional Police Homicide Unit.
Officers were dispatched to a home near Prospect and Gorham streets around 1:30 a.m. after receiving a report of an injured person.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim suffering from unspecified injuries outside the residence.
She was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The cause of death has not been confirmed, but police have deemed the death suspicious. The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
No further information has been released regarding suspects, but police said on social media they don’t believe there is a threat to public safety.
