Nick Mantas wins a narrow byelection win to replace Ward 22’s Jim Karygiannis. Karygiannis’ former chief of staff took Scarborough-Agincourt by just 223 votes.
Mayor John Tory urged people to go to the polls and cast their ballots, even though the COVID-19 pandemic is causing them to live under a provincial stay-at-home order.
In a press release this week, the city said the by-election could proceed as scheduled. The outcomes are deemed unofficial until a winner can be declared by the city clerk.
