There are 494 patients in an intensive care unit being treated for a COVID-19-related critical illness. The majority of the new cases in the last two days have been discovered in Toronto, Peel Region, York Region, and Ottawa. On Saturday, the province of Ontario declared a state of emergency to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.
In the province, there are currently 25,487 active cases of the disease, with 7,450 deaths and 2,135 confirmed cases of B.1.1.7. The seven-day average for the number of reported cases across the province is 2,757; two weeks ago, it was 2,094; and seven days ago, it was 1,599.
