Attorney General Mahbubey Alam passed away while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Sunday evening He was 72.
Mahbubey Alam breathed his last at 7:25 pm at CMH, Sumon Mahbub, son of Mahbubey Alam confirmed the matter to the Daily Observer.
His physical condition deteriorated the last few days as he was kept on ventilation after developed a lung infection.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam was taken to the ICU after his condition deteriorated during treatment on September 18. He was hospitalized to the hospital with a high fever on September 4 and later tested positive for Covid-19.
Alam was the longest-serving attorney general or the top law officer of the country since his appointment in 2009.
A former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, he began practising law in 1975. Mabubey Alam was born at Mochamodra village at Louhajang Upazila in Munshiganj on February 1, 1949.
