It’s when the artifice becomes apparent that one’s definition of beauty changes, renderingfalse impressions of talent moot. There are lots of beautiful people in the world, few of them make art.
Images of celebrity are constructed, painted, and posed. Fame is not happiness or a goal above all others. If you don’t believe me, ask the famous. Fame is not an achievement but a result of one’s efforts for good, bad or a media ploy. Imagery is meant to sway, contort, and convince.
Don’t fall in love with your idea of a person, fall in love with the person because you can’t make them be what you want them to be. Nor should you try.
THE ARTIST IS THE ART
A balance of promises
standing before discovery
flows onto the canvas in
brilliance and shade.
Her body’s dance
arching, curling, arousing
from the soles of her feet
to the tip of her brush.
