This week, Canada will receive a flood of new COVID-19 vaccine doses, with around 3.3 million shots expected.
The expected influx would be the most deliveries into Canada in a single week since the outbreak began. On Tuesday, Pfizer and BioNTech are expected to ship nearly 1.2 million doses, On Tuesday the United States is expected to deliver 1.5 million Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines. The vaccination campaign is still going on, despite growing fears of a deadly third wave of the virus.
As of Sunday afternoon, more than 11% of the population had received at least one dose of the new vaccine, with more than five million doses administered. The federal government is also keeping an eye on the European Union and India as they consider export restrictions on vaccines produced within their borders.
