Raidah Fairooz:-Canada is sending medical supplies of 25,000 vials of the antiviral drug to redeliver and up to 350 ventilators announced by the Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau, to India in order to aid and assist the country deal with the sudden uprising of COVID 10 cases which have pushed its hospitals to collapse.
Remdesivir is utilized to treat COVID 19 patients with critical conditions and 25,000 vials are equivalent to at least 4,000 courses of treatment. “Canada continues to stand in solidarity with the people of India,” Garneau said. The government further stated that it is working alongside UNICEF to fund up to 1,450 oxygen concentrators for India.
India is currently experiencing a major COVID 19 outbreak, including new 382,315 confirmed cases and 3,780 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
Today, the World Health Organization said India accounted for 46 per cent of global cases, and 25 per cent of global deaths as of last week. Due to this critical circumstance, Canada banned any flights from India and Pakistan on April 22nd.
Previously, Canada promised to receive $10 million from the Canadian Red Cross to help the Indian Red Cross acquire supplies and medicines that are mandatory for the country.
