This week, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance will attend a number of multilateral virtual meetings. Ministers and Governors will meet to discuss the global economy and international policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They will also talk about the next steps to help vulnerable countries, low-income countries and small states. Canada will continue to advocate for strong assistance to vulnerable countries and will share its approach of taking decisive action to invest in people and businesses.
According to Chrystia Freeland, the approach is consistent with the best practices of other advanced economies. The meetings will take place as part of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) and World Bank’s (WB) Spring Meetings.
