PABNA: – Finally, after a long 25 years, the monopoly of the Dilu family has tumbled and Freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas, chairman of IshwardiUpazila Parishad, has been nominated by Awami League for Pabna-4 constituency after 25 consecutive years. With the nomination of him, the absolute dominance of the Dilu family has fallen in the Pabna-4 constituency.
Awami League Nomination Board conducted a meeting Ganobhaban on Saturday afternoon regarding confirmation of AL nominated candidates on Saturday afternoon. The meeting was confirmed the nomination ofNuruzzaman Biswas in Pabna-4 constituency.
According to the election commission, a total of six members of the Dilu’sfamily collected party nomination papers to get party nominations for the seat. Dilu’s wife and Ishwardi Upazila Women’s Awami League president Arun Nahar Sharif, eldest son Ishwardi Upazila Awami League memberGalibur Rahman Sharif, eldest daughter District Awami League women affairs secretary Mahjebin Shirin, Shirin’s husband Ishwardi MunicipalAwami League president and Ishwardi municipality mayor Abul KalamAzad, Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu’s cousin and district Awami League joint secretary Bashir Ahmed and brother-in-law and ward Awami League leaderHabibur Rahman collected nomination papers to contest the by-election.
As he was elected Member of Parliament five times in a row from 1996 to2017, the family ruled in the selected area. According to Nomination Boardsources, Nuruzzaman Biswas has been nominated as part of the recent cleansing drive by the Awami League and the process of giving priority to those who have deserted the party and taking action against infiltrators within the party.
Nuruzzaman Biswas, who got party nomination in the Pabna-4 constituency by-election, is the chairman of Ishwardi Upazila Parishad. He is the vice president of the Pabna district Awami League and a freedom fighter.
It may be mentioned that the by-election of the Pabna-4 constituency will be held on September 28. Former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, an MPfrom Pabna-4 constituency, died on April 2 while undergoing treatment. The seat was declared vacant after his death.
