Sinthia Hoque:-Buckingham Palace has confirmed on Friday that Prince Harry and his wife, American actress Meghan Markle have formally announced that they will not be returning to Royal duties and he will be giving up honorary military titles. Due to a significant amount of media scrutiny and racist attitudes of the British Media towards Meghan being identified as biracial, the couple had decided to step away from the full time Royal life in March of 2020, stating that the situation will be a year after, a decision which has now been confirmed.
According to a verified statement made in the palace, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, “they will not be returning as working members of the Royal Family”. They will still retain their titles as the Duke and Duchess and Harry is still sixth in line to the British Throne, however, they have agreed to not use the title “royal highness”.
Harry will remain the patron for The Invictus Games foundation but will give up his positions as the patron of the Rugby Football League and the London Marathon Charitable Trust. The couple who now reside in Barbara, California and are expecting their second child will also be appearing on Oprah Winfrey which is expected to broadcast next month.
