Tiasha Tabassum: Michael Ford became the first Toronto city councillor who is tested positive for COVID-19. Ford stated, “This morning I was made aware that I have tested positive for COVID-19.’’
He has been self-isolated and will continue this isolation the next 14 days. He will work from home to participate in city business and committee meetings online. He added, “I am feeling well and will continue to remain in constant contact with Toronto Public Health.”
His aide Nicolas Di Marco said that Ford is in good health. He had the test after having minimal symptoms, just in case. Ford’s colleagues and supporters are sending well wishes on Twitter for his recovery.

Coun. Brad Bradford tweeted: “Stay well, Mike! Want to see you back in the chamber when this is all done!”
Michael Ford is the youngest member of the council elected in 2016 after replacing his late uncle. He got re-elected in 2018.
