RCMP say fishing vessel that sank last month off Nova Scotia was located in deep water.
The scallop dragger had six fishermen on board when it suddenly sank in rough seas on Dec. 15. Hours later, the body of one fisherman was discovered; the body of another was discovered the next day. Still missing are the remaining four crew members.
Chief William Saulis says, “It’s still on everybody’s mind, so I’m glad they found it and we are now waiting to see what the next steps are,” With a single tidal cycle moving around 110 billion tons of water in and out of the bay, the tides in the Bay of Fundy are massively powerful. At this stage, it is unknown how long it will be before a possible recovery operation can be attempted.
