When officers discovered up to 150 people partying inside a commercial building in Toronto, they charged 24 people and seized $13,000 in alcohol.
According to police, they were called to a dispute in a laneway near Dundas Street West and Huron Street at 1:27 a.m. Sunday.
“When officers arrived, they could hear loud music and people at a nearby property,” police said on Monday.
Additional officers were dispatched to the scene, where they allegedly discovered 150 people wearing no masks partying inside a nearby commercial building.
Everyone inside began to disperse, but officers said they were able to apprehend and charge 24 people under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
Police say they will continue to work to identify and possibly charge other partygoers.
They also seized $13,000 in alcohol from the building.
In recent weeks, police have issued hundreds of tickets per week in connection with parties and other large gatherings that occurred in violation of the stay-at-home order.
Anyone with information about the party should contact 52 Division.
