Police have identified a 36-year-old Toronto resident who was shot and died in the city’s central core on Saturday night.
Shortly before 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Dundas Street East and George Street for a reported shooting.
A suspect approached the victim, who has now been identified as Elijah Eleazar Mahepath, and shot him multiple times, according to detectives.
Mahepath was brought to the hospital in an emergency run, but he died from his injuries later that day.
The suspect was last seen walking westbound on Dundas Street East.
He has been described by police as a Black male between 35 and 40 years old, with short hair, and was seen wearing a light-coloured, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and a light blue surgical mask.
Police are asking anyone with information about the investigation to contact the homicide unit.
