Following an elderly woman’s assault in Markham the previous week, York Regional Police have asked the public for assistance in locating a person of interest.
Around 2:15 p.m. on July 8, police were called in response to complaints of an assault near Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue East.
According to police, a 74-year-old woman was crossing Steeles Avenue from a neighboring mall to a bus stop when a man appeared out of a footpath.
The suspect allegedly ran at the woman and pulled her hair, causing her to fall to the ground, police say.
The suspect then fled the scene.
The woman was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Police have released surveillance video of the incident and are asking the public to help identify the person of interest in the video.
