Tahsin Sakib: Currently we are going through a pandemic situation. This COVID-19 has taught us about so many things. It made us to think about the future, why we have to be worried and make ourselves prepared for the revolutionary change in employment history. You might have already noticed, we are staying at home for safety purpose, we can’t go outside. But has everything stopped for that reason? Aren’t you one of those who are not working remotely from home? If your answer is no, then believe me, it’s high time you should worry about your employment!

We already know that how fast technology has captured a major area of employment. So many type of jobs are already extinct. While Robotics, and more especially AI is taking place in all industries, manpower is now less required in many field such as people who used to pack or shift things in industry, are now mostly jobless. Because high tech equipments are doing that more easily and efficiently. It is taking less time and doing work faster. Then why to use human instead of this! Not only that, once we used to have switchboard operators, who were highly demandable. They were integral parts of a telephone network’s operation before modern technology rendered them obsolete. They would connect long-distance calls and do other things that are now done digitally. So today the work you are doing may not exist couple of years later. You have to know how you can survive this revolution. If it is not important for you, then spread it to others, those who need to know about the future. Someday there was a separate job for typewriter (still in some places it’s being used for security purpose but in very rare case), but now mostly, peoples are typing their own words without any hesitation, while it is now an easy job with any of your regular devices, it could be not only your computer, but also your smartphone, so why to spent extra money. Even why to write! AI has introduced us with text-to-speech. You just say, it will type automatically. How easy and comfortably done!

Students can’t get to their class, so institutions has introduced students with online classes. Though it was a common issue since a long time, but now almost everyone had to depend on it. Just the fact is, because we wasn’t prepared for this, we couldn’t adapt it easily. Specially most of our senior teachers, who are not much known about technology. So maybe in near future, you will have to get this advance technological knowledge to conduct classes online for getting this job. Online meetings for office, remotely working from home, sharing files through one place to another place, doesn’t it sense something similar to outsourcing? Yes, but not only outsourcing, this is going to be the future, while your home can be your office! It is assured that nearly 50 percent of the jobs will disappear globally within upcoming 20 years. So jobs like clerk, peon, travel agent, cashier, librarian, bank teller, telemarketer, printer and publisher, manufacturing work and so on will be no more.

Even maybe someday major jobs like pilot and driver will also be extinct as AI is now effectively managing these parts too! And as software is contributing in every place, organizations will have a major change too and so many valuable jobs like accountants, researcher and analysts etc. will also lose their job. You are an IT expert, that is good, but you have to ensure that you remain highly skilled because this sector will be more challenging than now and before.

Once Nokia had huge demands on the market, but now they are mostly fighting to make a comeback! You may have already heard about so many companies, who once had dominated, but now completely extinct. Because, you have to flow with time, you have to be upgraded to remain. Else you might also get extinct and maybe there will be not enough time for you to make a comeback. So take preparation from now. Make yourself and your upcoming generation be updated and ready for the revolution.
