First time in the history of Bangladesh, physically challenged Hedayatul Aziz Munna read the news in a wheelchair on the screen of private television SATV.
He read the news update in the main building of SATV on Thursday (December 16) at 11 am on the golden jubilee of victory. The SATV authorities said that such an initiative has been taken to bring people with disabilities into the mainstream.
Hedayatul Aziz Munna has expressed his excitement for being able to read the news on the television screen for the first time in the history of the country.
At the end of the news reading, Munna said in an exuberant voice, “I salute the SATV family.” They have taken such an initiative. We hope that SATV will take better initiatives in the future by involving people with disabilities.
Speaking on the occasion, SATV Managing Director Salahuddin Ahmed said, “We have taken such an initiative in the media for the first time keeping in mind that the physically challenged should not be neglected, they should be able to play a role in society and be a role model for others.” We have more plans for the future with them (people with disabilities).
He further said that various programs of SATV and employment of persons with disabilities will be provided in business establishments.
Meanwhile, SATV’s Executive Director Rashed Kanchan said that this bold initiative has been taken on the screen of SATV to bring people with disabilities into the mainstream, not just in words.
He again said that on the 50th anniversary of independence, SATV introduced the first wheelchair news anchor in Bangladesh today, paying homage to the Prime Minister, the wishes of the Prime Minister’s daughter and truly the freedom-loving people of Bangladesh. The new generation of 21st century Bangladesh is world class, their thinking is world class. So I personally want to have confidence in the history of this initiative of SATV.
Besides all those things, Aziz Munna is already working successfully at the national and international level for the employment and welfare of persons with disabilities. The Trinity T20 Wheelchair Cricket Series was held on Indian soil under his leadership and he won.
