BNP-backed councillor candidate Tariqul Islam was targeted by his rival’s supporters.
Supporters of BNP-backed candidate Tariqul Islam, who won the election, and his rival Shahadat Hossain clashed after the results had been declared, said Inspector Md Golam Mostafa of the Sirajganj Sadar Police.
He was stabbed by a knife and rushed to the hospital, where the doctors had pronounced him dead upon his arrival.
