The number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise in Bangladesh as health authorities detected 1,436 new cases across the country in 24 hours until Monday, taking the total to 400,251.

Fifteen more patients died from Covid-19 during the period, raising the death toll to 5,818.

Besides, 1,493 patients recovered from the disease, and the number of total recoveries from coronavirus has jumped to 316,600.

The fatality rate in Bangladesh is 1.45 percent, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The daily infection rate on Monday was recorded 10.44 percent upon testing 13,758 samples in 24 hours. 17.62 percent of the tested 22,71,347 samples so far have turned out to be Covid-19 positive.

The recovery rate has climbed to 79.10 percent in Bangladesh, the health authorities said.

Bangladesh is seeing 2350.18 infections, 1859 recoveries and 34.16 deaths per million.

Currently, there are 77.833 active cases in the country.

Of the total victims, 4,480 are men and 1,338 are women. Of the latest 15 victims, 14 are aged above 50 years and one other is aged between 21 and 30 years.

So far, 3,005 people have died in the Dhaka division, 1,157 in Chattogram, 370 in Rajshahi, 464 in Khulna, 198 in Barishal, 242 in Sylhet, 261 in Rangpur and 121 in Mymensingh.

Across the country, 12,045 people are now in isolation and 39,610 in quarantine.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The number of cases reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 5,000 on Sept 22.

The confirmed COVID-19 cases have surpassed 42.9 million globally as of Monday morning, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The confirmed death toll has been registered over 1.15million globally. Besides, global recoveries have been recorded over 28.8 million, according to the data.
