In two separate shootings in North York, two people were critically injured.

Several calls for shots fired were received shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday in the Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West area, according to Toronto police. When officers arrived, they discovered a male with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to paramedics in Toronto, the victim was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital. Officers discovered numerous shell casings at the scene.

Police were called to another shooting less than three kilometers away, near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West, about 15 minutes later. Officers arrived to find a man with gunshot wounds. According to paramedics, the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have not released any information about the suspects in either shooting.

When asked if the incidents were linked, police said it was too early in the investigation to say.
