A woman has allegedly been gang-raped by a group of Chhatra League men on the hostel premises of Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet.
on Friday evening, a couple from Shibbari territory of South Surma visited the MC College campus. Around then, Saifur and his partners — Rabiul, Tarek, Rony, Saifur, Mahfuj, and Arjun — took the woman and her husband to the nearby college hostel, where they tied up the husband and raped the woman. On Sources, police rescued the rape victim and her husband and sent the victim to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The victim’s husband filed a case with the city’s Shahparan police station. Six BCL activists and three unidentified people have been denounced for the situation.
Leaders and activists of the Chhatra League and general students are protesting over the incident.
More than 100 students of the college took to the streets and blocked the road on Sunday around 12:30 pm demanding immediate arrest of the rapists.
Meanwhile, a Spokesperson of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), stated: “Police have recognized the culprits and are presently leading drives to arrest them.”
